'Indraj' means descended from Indra. As Samaranganasutradhara identifies Indra as 'Mighty Hari'. Indraja may also mean the 'descendents of Hari'. Vayu Purana lists two named sons of Vishnu and Lakshmi, 'Bala (strength) and Utsaha (energy)'. The square of Jaya bestows strength and energy to the occupants.

Samaranganasutradhara identifies 'Jaya' as, 'Vajri, Holder of Vajra'. Vajra is described as the weapon of Indra, the god of heaven and chief deity of the Rigvedic pantheon. Indra is described as using vajra to kill the sinners and ignorant persons. Vajra is considered the ultimate weapon of gods. It indicates that this square was reserved for the king's armoury. Any weapon of self-defense in the house should also be kept here.
Rigveda states that the weapon Vajra was made for Indra by Tvastar, the maker of divine instruments. The associated story describes Indra using the vajra, which he held in his hand, to slay the asura Vritra, who took the form of a serpent. On account of his skill in wielding the vajra, some epithets used for Indra in the Rigveda are Vajrabhrit (bearing the vajra), Vajrivat or Vajrin (armed with the vajra), Vajradaksina (holding the vajra in his right hand) and Vajrabahu or Vajrahasta (holding the vajra in his hand). There have been instances where the war god Skanda (Murugan) also is described as holding a vajra.
Indrajaya is Indra-jaayaa i.e. born to Indra. In Hindu mythology, जयन्त ("victorious"), is the son of Indra, the king of the gods (devas) and his consort Indrani. He resides in Svarga, the Hindu heaven, governed by Indra. He has a sister called Jayanti. He appears in various Hindu scriptures as fighting wars on behalf of the gods and his father. He once fought Meghnath but lost the battle.

Many later Puranas describe the vajra, with the story modified from the Rigvedic original. One major addition involves the role of the sage Dadhichi. Sage Dadhtchi, on the request of gods, is said to have given up his life by the art of yoga after which the gods fashioned vajrayudha (vajra-weapon) from his spine. Another version of the story exists where sage Dadhichi was asked to safeguard the weapons of the gods as they were unable to match the arcane arts being employed by the asura to obtain them. Dadhichi is said to have kept at the task for a very long time and finally tiring of the job, he is said to have dissolved the weapons in sacred water which he drank. Brahma is then said to have fashioned a large number of weapons from Dadhichi's bones, including the vajrayudha.
The adjacent Pada is called Indra and as per Nighantu - it represents Hari. Some experts feels that this pada actually represents Praja (प्रजा) - The mankind.
It represents the Eldest Son. He is the one who carries the name of the family. He is the Yuvraj, inheriting and propagating the family values.
