Business Vastu

For running their business people have to establish shops at some suitable place in the cities, towns or colonies.

The shop may be one's own or a rented one. For successful business it is necessary to build the shops or business organisations according to the principles of Vaastu Shastra, and also the seating arrangement and settings inside the shops or offices be made according to these principles.

Many people have been found saying that inspite of hard work and many efforts, such and such concern is not doing good business and it is going in loss. Therefore, the following facts should be kept in mind while organising a shop or a business concern, so that the probability of monetary profits and peace of mind will increase many folds.

A shop or a business concern is the place where a person sits to carry on the process of sale and purchase of items or related transactions. According to Vastu Shastra, the door through which a customer enters is considered to be the face of the shop/business concern. It's auspiciousness should be known as follows: -

Facing East                        Profitable
Facing west                       Intermittent Profits and Losses
Facing North                     Growth of Wealth, Prosperity
Facing South                     Loss and hindrances when stars are weak (unfavorable). 

Seat of counter

The owner or the salesman should sit in the shop or commercial office facing towards east or north. It creates troubles and given loss if the seat/counter is facing south or west. If it is a public market, where the shops are facing south, the south-facing shops are no more inauspicious if there are shops opposite to these shops also.

Shape and size

1. If a shop or commercial office has the width in the front less than that in the rear, it is known as Gaumukhi shape. Such shape is not auspicious for business purposes.

2. If the width of a shop or commercial office is more in the front and less in the rear, the shape is called singhmukhi; it is auspicious and beneficial for commercial purposes.

3. Four sided rectangular or square shapes are good and auspicious.

4. Shops or commercial offices having triangular shape, irregular shape, extended at the corners (other than the north-east corner) are inauspicious. Such situations cause loss of money and of mental peace also.

5. There should not be a threshold (door-sill) at the entrance of the shop or business concern. Slope towards the entrance is also inauspicious. It makes the profits unstable.

6. Floor of the shop or business concern should be kept clean and attractive.

7. It is auspicious to install the idols of god Ganesh and Goddess Lakshmi on the right hand side or in north-east corner.

8. Auspicious symbols such as a Swastik should be marked and 'Shubh-Labh' ' Rddhi-Siddhi' words written on the wall in the shop. Cash counter should be placed facing north. Cash box should never be left blank or empty.

9. Favourite GOD should be remembered and prayers be offered in the morning and evening, with lighting a lamp and incense-stick (Agarbatti).

10. Presence of a tree or pole etc. in front of the shop causes Vedh, which is inauspicious. It creates problems and disturbances in the business, such Vedh should be avoided as per vaastu.

11. In the north-east portion of the shop less and only right items should be placed. Heavy items should be kept in south west portion. It is auspicious to keep the north-east corner empty and reserved for worship or gods.

Vaastu directions, conducive to financial prosperity are the north and northeast directions. The north direction is ruled by the Lord of Wealth, Kuber and the North-east direction is governed by the element water, which is regarded as an indication of a person's financial status according to Vaastu Shastra. Other directions should also be checked to ensure that they are in proper order to avoid any negative influence related to finances.

Since North is the direction for Lord Kuber, a blockage in this direction, would imply obstacles in the flow of wealth and prosperity into the house is blocked. However, if the block cannot be removed, placing an aquarium or a small fountain towards the north of the house serves as a good remedy.

In case of a single main entrance door, the East or North side location is the best. North or North East is specially good for ensuring financial gains. A single main door from the South should be avoided. If two doors have to be fixed the combination should be North(M) and East(S), East(M) and South(S), East(M) and West(S),East(M) and North(S), South(M) and East(S); but should not be South(M) to West(S), West(M) to North(S), West(M) to South(S).(M = Main, S = Subsidiary). In case of three doors, it would be prefereable to locate the doors on three sides other than South or West.

Safes or vaults in your house opening towards the south or west, are likely to result in expenses. This situation could be altered by placing safes, vaults, and other important assets like jewellery, cash, bank cheque books, property papers in a central north room of the house, and position the almirah locations to the South-west corners of this room. When these open towards the North, the amount of money flow enhances as these places are directions of wealth.

Since water is considered to be an indication of a person's financial health by Vaastu, stagnant water in the house, is an indication of lack of financial growth. Stagnant water within the house in the form of a pond could be remedied by installing a fountain in the house, and hence create a system of circulation for the water. Taps within your house should also be checked, for leakages, since leaking taps are a sign of expenses and hence should be rectified to alter the situation. Similarly, you also need to ensure that there is no boring or a tube well placed in the south direction as this could negatively affect finances.

Similarly, a water tank located in the northwest direction of your house indicates stagnation of wealth. This could be remedied by covering the tank with metal planters and filling these with plants which have round leaves.

You can expect a consistency and growth in your finances when the direction of water flow is from the north to the east. A water fountain placed in the north-eastern part of your house or office will also bring in similar good results. An aquarium with nine gold fish and one black fish placed in the north east corner of your house or place of business would ensure a good income flow.

• If you are planning to construct a well, underground tank, bore or swimming pool, ensure that it is placed in the North of North-eastern directions of your home.
• Business professionals should properly utilize the southwest portion of their homes as this direction represents power. Hence, you would receive power in whatever you choose to do, provided that the southwest direction is fully utilized.
• Since the North direction is governed by the Lord of wealth, taking care of this direction when constructing the house will ensure that the residents would have a good business or a profession with huge profits.
• Toilet placed next to the main entrance, could result in you incurring debts, since a toilet represents waste products and toilet water is stagnant water, which gets flushed down the drain. A toilet, next to your home entrance personifies that you are flushing down your wealth. This however could be remedied by keeping the door of the toilet always shut and placing mirrors on the toilet's door to deflect negative energies.
• Whenever entrance and exit doors come in a straight line, it means that whatever comes in through the door goes out of the exit. This will adversely affect your finances as they would never stay with you. This could be remedied by placing a screen between the entrance and the exit doors. An excellent choice is to place plants (preferably palms) close to the entrance and exit doors as they have a good effect in improving finances.

CLOTH EMPORIA

1. Lengths of cloth must be stowed in the south.
2. Cash box must be kept in the north.

1. Gambling is related to Venus. Hence, the gambling table must be kept in the south-east corner or in the south.
2. Cabin of the casino manager must face the south.
3. Token must be available at the manager's table.
4. A silver coin must be installed in the south-eastern corner and worshipped daily.

BAR AND PUBS

1. Bottles of bear and whisky must be stored in the south-western corner.
2. Empty bottles must be stored in the south.
3. Cabin of the bar manager must be situated in the south or the west.
4. Wine glasses and mugs etc. must also be stored in the south.

CHEMIST AND DRUG SHOPS

1. Allopathic medicines should be stored in the south and the north.
2. Ayurvedic medicines should be stored in the north-western corner.
3. Fridge must be installed in the south-eastern corner of the shop.

LABORATORY

1. Administrative cabin must be situated in the southern part of the laboratory.
2. Microscope must be kept on the front table.

HOSPITAL / DISPENSARY

1. Operation table for orthopedic surgery must be situated in the west.
2. Gynaecology department and labour room must be situated in the south-western corner.
3. Beds of the expecting mothers must be set in such a way as it always remains on the right hand side upon entering the room.
4. All kinds of indispensable medicines must be stored either in the south-western or in the south-eastern corner.
5. Examination table must be covered with a veil and the patient must lie on it with her head pointing to south.
6. Seat of the ENT (Ear, Nose and Throat) specialist must face the north.

Vastu Advice For The Hospital

GAS AGENCY

Gas cylinder should be stored either in the south or in the north; these should never be stored, even by mistake in the south-west corners, west or in the east.

PETROL PUMP

1. Petrol pump must be built in the south-eastern corner or in the southern side of the plot.
2. Cashier's cabin must face either south or north.

GARAGE AND PARKING

1. Vehicle must always be parked in the north-western or south-eastern corner.
2. Garage can be built in the south.
