Placing crystals in strategic places around your home can have beneficial effects. The grid below gives you information about which crystals to place where. To relate it to your own home North refers to your front door, which makes South the back of your house. Remember to cleanse your crystals before use always.

One big reason is quartz crystal has such exceptional beauty and we believe quartz crystal is the most beautiful. We might be just a wee-bit prejudiced on that point. Quartz crystal is aesthetically pleasing to the eye and provides one with an intense feeling of joy by just having it around. As you gaze into a crystal and ponder “all that is” a great feeling of inspiration flows through you. The effect can be soothing and calming or highly energetic and motivational. No matter what the reason is, you can easily be drawn into the interior of a crystal.

Another reason could be that some crystals are included with another mineral or contain veils and rainbows. These inclusions sometimes display shapes that resemble angels, birds or mountains. There might even be a bubble of water that was trapped inside millions of years ago. There are incredible photograph of a large phantom quartz crystal, inside of that crystal, there are over fifty distinct images.

Some people are attracted to the different colors of quartz crystal. There is the deep purple of amethyst and the loving pink of rose quartz. Citrine has a warm golden amber hue. The always-popular smoky quartz comes in various shades of brown, gray or black. There are other colors such as tangerine quartz, blue quartz and green quartz. All of them are beautiful and easy to fall in love with.

You might be fascinated by the scientific intrigue. Others are more interested in the spiritual values of quartz crystal and their metaphysical properties.

People also love quartz crystal because of the many different shapes and physical attributes. You might carry a crystal point around for protection or good luck. Some have placed a quartz crystal cluster in their home for the protection and positive energy it emits.

Quartz crystal may be a very common mineral, but it makes up an important part of almost each and every other mineral.

The crystals used in Feng Shui are often faceted lead crystal, but you can also use real crystals and gemstones, which have been used for hundreds of years to protect against negative energy and to increase positive energy. There are stones that eliminate negative energy that you can place in your room, and around the house. Clear quartz raises the frequency and vibration of energy around it. Rose quartz increases the energy of love and self-love. Amethyst protects against psychic negative energy; it also increases intuition and connection with spirit guides and with the divine. Black stones, such as obsidian, onyx and tourmaline are very protective against negative energies of all kinds, as is tiger eye, jade and turquoise.

Keep a bowl of crystals on your kitchen table that include those that are helpful for dissipating/removing negative energies.  Snowflake Obsidian, Apache Tears and Amethyst would be a wonderful combination.

You may want to put a couple of chunks of Black Obsidian or Mahogany Obsidian outside and on either side of your front door to keep these energies from entering your space.

In the room where your front door (or side door—which ever folks enter through) is located, set a piece of Black Tourmaline in each corner.  Black Tourmaline is a wonderful resource when you want to diffuse negativity and transmute the energy into loving kindness.

To clear unwanted/negative energy from a room or space, Smokey Quartz is one of the best!  It will remove the dense energy and replace it with a clear, clean, uplifting energy.

Carry a piece of Hematite in your pocket to keep your energy field grounded and balanced during this challenging circumstance.  One of the favorite pocket combos is a combination of Black Tourmaline and Rose Quartz.   As the Black Tourmaline surrounds you with an invisible barrier of energy that will not allow these negative energies to penetrate your energy field, the Rose Quartz will fill you and your energy field with love, compassion and understanding.

You may want to wear a pendant or earrings with your favorite crystal.  This surrounds your body and infuses your auric field with positive, loving energies.

Like Amethyst, Smokey Quartz is a good anchor crystal and if you obtain a large piece  should be located somewhere prominent in an important place where you spend allot of time. Smokey is similar to Amethyst in that it’s good for cleansing and absorbing negative energies. Clear quartz or Quartz generally can be valuable.

Smaller crystals such as tumbles are great for placing around the house in every room, on tables, shelves, windows sills, cabinets, in small bowls or loose. The same applies for larger pieces as any and all crystals will help make your home a nice place to be.

There are two crystals that every start – up business should have: citrine and tiger’s eye. Both these crystals are good for get – up and – go energy. Citrine brings intelligence and tiger’s eye stability. Put them in the wealth corner of your work – that’s the far left corner from the door of the room. Keep them charged by putting them in the sun once a month or so.

Innovating/Creating

For inspiration, keep a small amethyst on your desk or in your pocket. If you want everyone to feel inspired and creative, invest in an geode for the office. Wear an amethyst ring on your left hand if innovation is an important part of your work. For imagination, try aquamarine, labradorite, or fluorite.

For dynamic creativity, try antimonite or citrine. Topaz is one of the stones of the sun, and as such focuses that solar, creative energy. Use it whenever you feel physically tired, lacking inspiration, or if you really need to get things done.

Marketing/Selling

For direct sales, malachite is the best Crystal Wear it on your left hand or around your neck over the throat, whenever you have to go and sell yourself or your wares – it will draw good deals and money to you. Malachite is also good for general business success, so you should always have a piece at your place of work.

Strategic planning

Every business needs a plan. When you are creating your business strategy use lapis lazuli. It is a wisdom crystal, bestowing common sense and good judge- ment on those who wear it. It will help you keep a steady hand on the tiller also, as it is a crystal of leadership. Keep it on your desk or better still wear it as a piece of jewellery and keep it next to your skin.

Accounts/Money

When it comes to the accounts, use your tiger’s eye, a grounding crystal that is great for sorting out details. Tiger’s eye is generally a good crystal for business, helping to maintain stability and productivity.

Attracting wealth is one of the oldest uses of crystals – amulets to encourage prosperity have been found in ancient Egyptian tombs.  In general, green crystals are associated with money. A basket of green crystals – for example aventurine, chrysoprase, light green jasper, and nephrite – in the far left corner of your desk or tour room will help you prosper. Choose one of these to carry when you need to generate more income – or put one in the till.

Day to day details

As well as aiding concentration and organization, agate has long been considered a good luck stone.  Fluorite is also said to aid concentration and help you to focus on what’s necessary.

Consolation

Keep a bowl of your favorite crystals handy, so that you can hold them when you feel stressed.

Managing people

Good staffs are the key to good business. When you’re hiring people you need to be able to listen to your intuition and make sound assessments. You’ll need to be able to read people, also, and learn how to delegate successfully. Lapis lazuli will give you wisdom and amethyst will heighten your intuition and help you make good judgements.

Delivering the goods

Whether it is consultancy, or computer programming, you will need to deliver your goods or services on time and on budget. A lot of entrepreneurs are excellent at starting something and not so good at finishing. By the time it comes to actually doing the job, they are bored and thinking of the next thing. Garnet will help you to overcome obstacles and see you through to the finish. Wear it if you can, as it is also a stone of good fortune.

Bloodstone can also be useful in his context. It is an all-round good luck stone, once carried by Roman soldiers to protect them from harm, staunch wounds and to overcome enemies. Wear it for courage, determination and fortitude.

Risky ventures

Successful risk-taking means successful risk-assessment. So once you have thought out your strategy using your lapis lazuli, you should carry a gambler’s lucky amazonite or a green quartz.

Clear quartz or smoky quartz single -- terminated crystals, or jet at the corners of your desk near the floor, help ground you and give you energy.

Stones for computers

Computers emit continuous electromagnetic radiation and if you are sensitive, you will find this quite draining after a while. One of the following crystals between you and the screen will absorb some of the radiation, but don’t rely completely on your crystal. Make sure you take regular screen breaks.

• Sodalite
• Fluorite
• Lepidolite

Moving energy

To get energy moving in a sluggish office, hang crystal prisms at the window.

Concentration and calm

An amethyst geode on your desk will help you to stay calm and focused on your work. It will also help with communication.

Money

Putting malachite in the four corners of your room will draw money into the business.

Decoration

Use big crystals as bookends or paperweights.  

Sentinel stones

You can charge two large protective stones – granite, flint, or marble, for example – so that they allow in friends and repel enemies. Place them on either side of the door.

OTHER WAYS TO USE THE CRYSTALS BY INDIVIDUALS

Worn on the Body or Close to the Body
One way to benefit from the properties of the crystals and stones is to wear them. Often people who have no conscious knowledge of crystal healing will intuitively select crystal jewellery with stones that will have a positive healing effect for them. Choose stones appropriate for the purpose you want but always use your intuition. Crystals worn on or close to the body are often used for healing or protective purposes. these usually do effect the entire body and energy field. The particular location of the stone is also not absolutely critical in most cases. Placing the stone on or near the specific area related to the purpose of treatment is often faster and has a more focused effect, however as in any form of healing, The healing energies will go to where it is intended and to where the healing is needed. You can also direct and focus the energy from the crystal by intention. Sometimes you will feel that a stone needs to be somewhere that has no pocket or practical place to wear jewellery. Little pouches can be pinned inside clothing for fine tuned placement.

The length of the chain a pendant is on will help control the strongest effect of the stone. A pendant or necklace resting at the throat chakra might have the greatest effect on areas governed by the throat chakra (for example: communication and creativity and other throat chakra issues) but will still provide energy to the entire aura and physical body. A stone worn lower down and near to or on the heart will again have a greater affect on issues and areas governed by the heart chakra, for example: matters of love and compassion.

Many people feel that the stones worn on the left side have to do with receiving energies and that stones worn on the right side will primarily influence projective matters and outside issues.

Kept under a Pillow
Keeping Crystals under the pillow whilst asleep has many advantages.  Certain crystals can help with sleep problems like insomnia. They can ward off nightmares and psychic attacks. Other crystals have properties to aid in dream recall and some can assist in out of body experiences and astral travel.

Used in the Bath
Crystals can be used in the Bathwater or placed around the edge of the Bath Tub. This method is very effective and enjoyable. Bathing cleanses not just the physical body but also cleanses us on all 4 levels. Bathing can wash away the stresses and strains of the day, any negative emotions we might be holding onto and can refresh us, soothe us, revitalise us and energise us. Placing Crystals in the bath will absorb any negative energy or emotions. In addition the healing energies of the crystal will be directed to where it is intended. Aventurine is an effective crystal for use in the bath. Good "all round" crystals like Clear Quartz, Rose Quartz and Amethyst are also great for use at bath times.

In Meditation Practice
The energy structure of crystal naturally imparts a stillness and order to the subtle body system, which in turn helps to quieten the mind. Problems are issues that have not yet been resolved by normal thought processes. By altering our way of thinking away from everyday issues a solution can automatically arise. Crystals can be placed in front of you in meditation practice of they can be held in the hands.

Placed around the Home or Workplace for Space Clearing and Room Cleansing
Crystal are able to alter the energy of a space, enlivening the atmosphere and neutralizing negative energies. Crystals can add harmony to any space. There is no hard and fast rule as to where you should place your crystals. You should use your intuition. Raw Crystals and Crystal Clusters have a better ability over small single crystals to retain their own energy integrity. Because of this they are able to retain more negative energy before they need to be cleansed again.

Cleansing your crystals

Crystals should be treated with care. Many are fragile and/or water-soluble and some, such as amethyst, can fade in direct sunlight. When not in use it is a good idea to wrap your crystals in silk or velvet to protect them and to stop them from absorbing foreign vibrations.

When you receive your crystal it will have been around for many years. It may have been handled by many different people and might have absorbed some of their negative vibrations.

It is important, therefore, to spend a little time cleansing your crystal. There are several ways to do this.

Bury your crystal in the ground

Putting your crystal in the ground overnight clears your crystal of any negative energy. Remember to mark the spot well.

Hold your crystal under running water

Most crystals can be held under running water, preferably naturally running water, but if this is not possible a running tap will do. Imagine a waterfall falling over your crystal until you feel that all the negative energies have been washed away. Please make sure that your crystal is not water-soluble before cleansing in this way.

A clue to the water solubility of a crystal can be found in it's name. Most water-soluble crystals end in "ite", such as fluorite, calcite, angelite and sodalite. Lapis Lazuli is also water-soluble.

Use crystals that cleanse other crystals

Some crystals such as clear quartz or carnelian have the ability to cleanse other crystals. You can place a small crystal on top of a Quartz Cluster and leave it overnight or keep a Carnelian in a bag of other crystals. This is an extremely useful method for delicate crystals but the cleansing crystals may need cleansing themselves afterwards.

Sound

The vibrations of a pure sound can be used to cleanse a stone. You can use a bell, gong or turning fork.

Crystals can also be cleansed using the pure sound and vibration of Tibetan Cymbals. Holding the cymbals over a group of crystals and bringing them together to make a sound, makes it possible to cleanse several crystals at once (see the picture below).

Moonlight

Both moonlight and sunlight can be used to cleanse your crystals. However, sunlight can fade some crystals, whereas moonlight is a powerful safe cleanser.

Cleansing can and should be done on a regular basis. If your crystal is looking dull it may be because it has picked up and absorbed negative energy from the surrounding environment. Try not to let anyone touch your crystal, even though they may be full of good intentions. If your crystal has been handled by someone else then cleanse it to clear any absorbed negative energy.

Clusters

Crystal clustered on a common matrix, encourages a sense of community, creating harmony, and removing negativity from the environment, whether that is only a body or in a room. Also useful in cleansing and activating other quartz and minerals. Cluster some times contains many metaphysical configurations, all working together harmoniously.

Quartz crystals serve to bring the group energy of the associated crystal to the surrounding environment, enhancing peace and harmony in groups, in the family, and in other social or business environment.  

It is well known amongst crystal healers that crystals in their roughest form are far more effective than tumble stones or polished stones. I suppose it makes sense that something that is nearer to its natural form, is bound to have more of its initial vitality than something that has been processed a great deal. 

The difference between using these two sorts of crystals, and often in a healing layout  use a mixture of both polished stones with a good proportion of rough crystals amongst them.
